GoldSearch: Practical Example

Refining a list of high quality prospects: In a typical example, a sales person needs to find a group of prospects to call. It normally involves a search using a combination of factors, including geographic area, title, turnover, industry type and internal category.

Using the FormDesigner technology in GoldSearch, a list of frequently searched-on fields can be set up, that enables searching on all these fields at the same time. This type of search can be done with a filter in GoldMine, but it is akin to browsing the internet with a slow connection. When you finally get to the result, you have forgotten what you were trying to find! With GoldSearch, you see the results instantly, with a count of the number of matching records. By drilling down and including more categories, you can fine-tune a list to only include prospects with a high probability of buying your products. Because the results are displayed so quickly, it also reveals patterns – you may think there are no prospects in a certain geographic area, but a quick GoldSearch session will reveal the true picture.

Finding contacts from partial addresses or telephone numbers: If the only details available are the name of a suburb, or worse, the name of a house, it is difficult to know where to start searching – other than doing a full text search that can take ages on a big database. GoldSearch finds all primary and additional contacts where the address phrase occurs – in any of the address fields. The same principle applies where you have a partial telephone number, but you have no idea which of the 4 primary or 2 additional telephone number fields it may be in. GoldSearch solves this problem by instantly finding records that match the part-telephone number – anywhere in the 6 telephone number fields.
